Terrestrial Heat Worldwide

World-wide the terrestrial heat use rises continuously, both the heat production and the electricity production. The kind of production depends on the geological situation.

Weltweit steigt die Erdwärmenutzung kontinuierlich an, sowohl bei der Wärmeerzeugung als auch bei der Stromproduktion. Dabei ist die Art der Produktion von der geologischen Situation abhängig.
For the year 2006, totally 9 ' 000 MW of electrical achievement for the electricity production are installed and in 71 countries 28 ' 000 MW of thermal achievement for heat productionin are installed.

Over 99% of the earth is hotter than 1 ' 000° C, only one thousandth of the earth mass and just the upper 3km directly under the earth-crust is cooler than 100° C. The temperature in a depth of 10 - 20 meters in central euope is about 12° C. Above this depth temperature is affected by the climate. In deeper layers, geothermal regularities are taking place, i.e. the temperature raises approx. about 1° C every 33 meters. World-wide the use of geothermal energy increases rapidly.

99 % der Erde hat eine Temperatur von über 1000° C.In the year 2005 the installed achievement for heat production reached approximately 28 ' 000 MW. With the production of electricity  an upswing can be determined, which leds to the today's value of 8 ' 900 MW. At present, plants areunder construction in ten countries, which will produce shortly altogether over 500 MW; until 2010 they will exceed a value of 10 ' 000 MW.

The USA and the Philippines have, with installed achievements of approximately 2 ' 000 MW each, a leading role of all countries achieving electricity with terrestrial heat, followed by Mexico and Indonesia, before Italy, the european leading country with about 700 MW.
